The hand mower his used in gardening for cutting grass and other types of plants. It is either moved by a human being or powered by an engine. The plants are cut by rotating blades that are at the bottom of the mower. It works best in big patches of grass, not around edges as it is a bulky machinery. If you are looking for a clean cut around corners and rounded edges, you should luck at buying a trimmer. They can help a lot where you want your grass cut to perfection.
The hand mower was invented in 1827 by Edwin Beard Budding, in a place called Thrupp near Stroud, Gloucestershire. Edwin's invention was very different to the hand mowers you see today. His mower had a series of blades in a cylindrical fashion attached to two wheels. When the mowers were pushed the razor sharp blades would cut the grass in the front and spit it out at the back. This made cutting your lawn twice the hassle as you would then need to rake up the cut grass. However it was a lot easier than cutting it manually with a sickle. Edwin's invention of the hand mower was his most successful.
The hand mowers we use today are a lot different in the look and use. We also have different type of mowers and designs, as there are many manufactures. Some of the main manufactures are: John Deere, Atco, Stow, Wolf, Locke,GGP.
